We have added the ability to search across all nine volumes of Horace Traubel's With Walt Whitman in Camden. We have also added a new page of the "Disciples" section dedicated to Anne Gilchrist, including her 1870 essay "A Woman's Estimate of Walt Whitman."

We have just published a new anonymous review of the 1860-61 edition of Leaves of Grass. The review appeared in the Cleveland Morning Leader on December 13, 1860. Former Whitman Archive staffer Eric Conrad alerted us to its presence.

Updates to Leaves of Grass editions

We have updated the editions of Leaves of Grass to standardize the presentation of the Tables of Contents and horizontal bars.  I have also added two commas that were missing in the copyright statement associated with the 1891-2 edition.

"Manly Health and Training" and Additional Editorials Published

Whitman's 1858 newspaper series "Manly Health and Training" has just been published, with an introduction and annotations by Zachary Turpin (University of Idaho). We have also published 20 new editorials likely written by Whitman for the New York Aurora. Additionally, we have written editorial notes for each piece of journalism, explaining the Archive's rationale for attributing the piece to Whitman in the absence of an explicit "Walt Whitman" byline.

The journalism index page has been updated to reflex this new additions.
