Corrected typo in "Little Bells at Night"

Ed Folsom alerted me to the fact that our transcription of this poem printed in a periodical (https://whitmanarchive.org/published/periodical/poems/per.00077) had "long-strech'd" for "long-stretch'd." I have made the correction.

Published transcription of Whitman's periodical poem "The House of Friends"

A transcription of Whitman's 1850 poem "The House of Friends" has been added to the Archive's "Poems First Published in Periodicals" section. The poem had been listed as having first appeared in a periodical, but the Archive had been unable to obtain an image of the issue of the New York Daily Tribune in which it appeared, thus no image or transcription was available. We have now obtained a digital image of a microfilm copy of the issue, allowing us to transcribe and annotate the poem. A link to the transcription has also been added to the index of individual periodical poems, as well as the index that appears on the page dedicated to the New York Daily Tribune.

Date Correction for Periodical Publication of "The Mississippi at Midnight"

Matt Cohen noticed a discrepancy between the dates shown in the "Date" and "Publication Information" fields of the HTML display at http://whitmanarchive.org/published/periodical/poems/per.00063. I have corrected the TEI metadata so that both show the correct date (March 6, 1848).

Corrected typo in periodical poem

The transcription of "After All Not to Create Only" (published in the New York Evening Post on September 7, 1871) was missing a end parenthesis in the following line in the third stanza: "As she, the illustrious Emigré (having, it is true, in her day, although the same, changed, journey'd con-
siderable)."  I've now added it.

Corrected typo in periodical poem

I changed “piereced” to “pierced” in the second-to-last line of Whitman’s poem “Ambition,” published in Brother Jonathan on January 29, 1842.

Transcription corrected in Published Works section

I have made three corrections to transcriptions in the Published Works section of the site:

1. In the 1881-1882 edition (http://whitman-dev.unl.edu/published/LG/1881/whole.html), I corrected the capitalization of ñ to Ñ, where necessary.

2. In the 1856 edition (http://whitmanarchive.org/published/LG/1856/whole.html), I corrected the mis-transcription "enemies'lands" to "enemies' lands"

3. In "A Death Sonnet for Custer" in the Poems in Periodicals section, http://www.whitmanarchive.org/published/periodical/poems/per.00142, I corrected the singular "Cañon" to "Cañons" in the editorial footnote to the poem.

Brett Barney pointed out these errors.
