Typo corrected in scribal document

Ken noticed that an "s" was missing in our transcription of nar.00419 ("John M. Binckley to T. A. Jenckes, 24 January 1868"). I have corrected "Of the third-class clerk, one is . . . " to "Of the third-class clerks, one is . . . ".

Correspondence published, scribal index updated

We have published 74 additional post-Reconstruction letters.  The letters are available on the Whitman Archive at http://www.whitmanarchive.org/biography/correspondence/index.html.  We have also updated the index and search options for the scribal documents.

XML display for scribal documents

The “View XML” option on the scribal documents was producing a page error.  I have updated the display for the scribal documents so that the XML is accessible.   Thanks to Ruth Tillman for drawing our attention to this issue.

Scribal Documents Published

We have published an installment of approximately 100 new scribal documents, bringing to a close the first phase of our work on Whitman's Scribal Documents. This work was truly a team effort, with important contributions from Anthony Dreesen, Nima Kianfar, Courtney Lawton, Elizabeth Lorang, Kevin McMullen, Ken Price, and John Schwaninger.

As part of the release of these materials, I have updated the News & Updates section of the home page as well as the News page.
