Miscellaneous transcription errors corrected in Complete Prose Works

In looking at the punctuation in this volume, I noticed a hyphenation error on p. 56, as well as errors in the transcription of ellipses on pp. 28, 443, and 444. These are now corrected. In addition, I did a fresh and thorough proofreading of the table of contents, correcting the transcriptions of ellipses between titles on the same page as well as a dozen or more other character-level transcription errors.

Typo corrected in final paragraph of Complete Prose Works

 Archive user Ira Chernus alerted us to a typo in the final paragraph of Complete Prose Works (1892), in which we had "show many topics" for "how many topics." This has been corrected.

Tiny change to encoding of Complete Prose Works

User Ira Chernus brought to our attention the appearance of the word "overhended" in "Hudson River Sights." Presumably, this is an error for "overbended," but since the error is in the original print I have added markup rather than change the basic transcription.

Transcription errors corrected in Complete Prose and "Reminiscences of Walt Whitman"

In reading some of Whitman's comments regarding opera, I noticed two transcription errors in Complete Prose Works (pp. 294 and 294) and one in the John Townsend Trowbridge reminiscence in the interviews section. They are now corrected.

I noticed that an em dash was missing from one of the table of contents entries, so I have supplied it.

Minor corrections to Complete Prose Works

I spotted and corrected the following two minor errors in the transcription of Complete Prose Works: In the table of contents, elipses between "Steam-Power, Telegraphs, &c." and "America's Back-Bone"  were missing; near the top of p. 144 was an extraneous apostrophe after the word "ten."

I noticed that the head for "Friendship, (The Real Article)" on p. 333 lacked parentheses, so I have supplied them.

Typo in Complete Prose Works corrected

I happened to notice that, in our transcription of Complete Prose Works, the heading for "Dough-Face Song" had a superfluous "d" ("Dough-Faced Song"). I have removed it.

Adjusted poetry indentation for Drum-Taps

Line breaks in the Drum-Taps poems were not displaying with an indent, as they did in the original volume.  I have changed the stylesheet so that line break indents are now displaying.  This also affects the display of poetry in Drum-Taps and Sequel to Drum-Taps and Complete Prose Works.

The argument in the article "New Orleans in 1848" on p. 436 had several errors of capitalization. I have fixed these.

On p. 379, I've corrected ". . . as Homer himself was considerations—which seem . . ." to ". . . as Homer himself was—considerations which seem . . . ."
